A stakeholder map framework can be a helpful way to categorize influencing priorities or navigate the politics of an organization so a to ensure the success of one’s initiatives and accountabilities.

One way to look at mapping stakeholders is to think of the territory in terms of power to support or detract from a specific initiative or accountability. This then helps the change agent determine what conversations and communications to prioritize.

Another way to consider stakeholders is to consider their VLL - Values, Loyalties and Losses. So from the perspective of the initiative or accountability that you are wanting to move forward how does it align with each person’s values, what sort of loyalties may it activate for or against it, and what losses may the stakeholder need to deal with if they were to support it.
