ABOUT DORIAN

Hello, I'm Dorian Baroni, an Executive Coach, Leadership Retreats Designer, Organizational Advisor, and Entrepreneur. With a passion for lifelong learning and a diverse business background spanning investment banking, global energy, consumer goods, leadership consulting, and art retail, I bring a wealth of experience to the world of leadership in business and nonprofits.

🌍 Global Insights: Having worked across various countries – Italy, UK, US, Venezuela, and Belgium – I joined the business world in 1983, initially driven by research on the impact of automation on Wall Street. My journey, starting as a graduate student at Columbia University and later as a management trainee at Morgan Stanley, unveiled the potential of technology to transform industries. From there I expanded to include social technologies becoming steeped in the value of systems thinking and emergent change methodologies.

πŸ’‘ A Curious Mind: My early interest in whether collaboration, trust, and transparency would be enhanced by information systems led me to explore the dynamics of the investment banking industry. While u came to realize that automation had unintended problematic impacts on culture, it ignited a deep passion for creating business cultures that balance financial success with the well-being of employees, communities, and customers.

🎯 Focus Areas: At the core of my beliefs is the conviction that a leader's journey towards wholeness is key to navigating today's complex challenges. I specialize in helping high-performing teams build trust across differences, emphasizing the power of women's leadership in shaping global mindsets, social systems, and economic impact models.

🀝 Collaborative Approach: Working with both individuals and organizational teams, I empower individuals to embrace their true calling and leverage their unique gifts. When engaging with organizations, I identify patterns in culture or structures that hinder creativity and facilitate transformative conversations to overcome challenges.

🌟 Informed Expertise: My coaching and leadership consulting activities have been enriched by collaborations with and/or the teachings of change thought leaders, such as Otto Scharmer, Meg Wheatley, Arawana Hayashi, David Rooke, Lisa Lahey and Bill Isaacs.. I bring cutting-edge insights from programs of personal and individual development with a range of cutting edge practitioners.

πŸš€ DorianBaroni.com: Through my business, DorianBaroni.com, I work with a diverse range of clients, from senior executives to new talented staff and entrepreneurs, fostering individual resilience and humane cultures. I also collaborate with new teams, driving Highly Effective Team (HET) outcomes grounded in trust, mutual respect, and shared motivation.

🀝 Strategic Partnerships: As a Senior Associate, I partner with consultancies like The Presencing Institute, Mannaz Consulting, Morris Graham, and Pluribus, focusing on regenerative solutions, leadership development, systemic change, and inclusion.

🌱 Social Impact: Beyond my business activities, I support the leaders of several nonprofits and humanitarian relief organizations, and give back to the women sponsorship activities of my undergraduate alma mater, The College of William and Mary.

🌐 A note about my Women’s Leadership/Social Impact Initiative: Women Agents of Change (WAOC): Shaping the Future, One Change at a Time! πŸš€

Back in early 2017, I hit pause on my business activities for a short while to envision the legacy phase of my work in leadership development and change for women. Fast forward to today, and WAOC is here to empower and inspire women change agents.

πŸš€ What's WAOC All About? Imagine an online hub where change mastery knowledge, tools, resources, and inspiration collide to create a force for change. That's exactly what WAOC brings to the table. Our online change mastery programs, delivered through videocalls and webinars, is a go-to space for women in the WAOC community who want to make change happen – gracefully, powerfully, and unapologetically.

🌟 What's in Store for 2024? In 2024, WAOC is reimagining itself We're continuing to roll out access to online self-serve resources, partnering with the global network of speakers and experts to bring their insights to the community, and hosting monthly videocalls. The theme of these calls for 2024 is Navigating Through Uncertainty, because these times seem to be challenging all of us due to their complexities and ongoing upheavals. πŸ’ͺ Why Women's Leadership Matters to Me: As a successful businesswoman, I've enjoyed a fruitful career, but I know the struggles of being a visitor of sorts in the world of business due to my gender. From my high school days in pre-engineering to the executive roles, I've seen the challenges women face. That's why I'm passionate about women's leadership development and breaking down barriers. We all play a part in creating equal opportunities for all.

🌈 My Impact Journey: I'm not just talking the talk – I'm walking the walk. I mentor women MBAs at the Anderson School at UCLA. I host online and in person women's leadership retreats, have co-created a women’s Navigating Transitions for The College of William and Mary alumnae and staff, and challenge leaders to think about the impact of unconscious gender bias in day-to-day business decisions.

πŸš€ Global Impact: From 2007 to 2015, I took the lead in expanding the CIYO (Coming Into Your Own) leadership retreat program for women globally. We reached corporate settings, making CIYO accessible and affordable. And in 2017, I founded WAOC to amplify that impact and create a world where change is the norm and women can access change resources regardless of financial or educational status.
